So, last semester I took an intro to 3DS Max class... something I've been dying to do for years. I've been trying to teach myself to work in 3D programs for a very long time with limited success, so I was very excited to actually get to jump into it full force. It was a great class and I was happy with how my final project turned out (at the time.) It looks cool, but the topology on the model sucks big time.
All that to say, I thought I'd be working in 3DS Max for a while. My first couple years at least. As much as I love working in 3D, I really hate 3DS Max, so as you can imagine when someone suggested that I take an intro to XSI class I jumped at the opportunity. I must say, I am loving this class.
I am an... overeager learner and very much a self teacher. I've been trying to teach myself most aspects of game and website design since I was 13 years old (in some cases even younger.) I'm really glad for this tendency, because I can finally see it paying off. Most of the concepts that I'm now learning, I've already experimented with before and that has given me a distinct edge on the Digital Animation and Game Design learning curve. Basically this means I can focus more on the art and design than the mechanics of how to use the software properly.
So far this has been a good semester, though it has had it's rough spots. I've been moodier than normal this year for one, which doesn't help my relationships much. And I'm taking a public speaking class, which.... isn't my thing. However, despite the bad, I feel I've grown as an artist more in the first half of this semester than the whole semester last Fall.
